The Mike Grace Scholarship Award was established to recognize high achievement in the area of vocational education. Established in 1983 by the Industrial Coordinating Division of the Williamson County Chamber of Commerce, the award is given to memorialize Mike Grace, APCOM founder. Mr. Grace was a strong advocate of vocational education and, until his death in 1983, worked tirelessly in support of these programs.

The scholarship is available to current high school seniors that live in Williamson or Putnam counties or that have a parent that is an APCOM employee. Additionally, the high school seniors must have accumulated a minimum of four (4) credit hours in vocational areas by the end of their senior year. The Mike Grace Scholarship recipient must have applied and been accepted by a post-secondary institution of his or her choice. The award is made with the understanding that the student will be using the monetary award to further post-secondary education.

The Mike Grace Scholarship is a four-year scholarship. The recipient is eligible to renew the scholarship for three (3) additional years as long as the recipient maintains the scholarship criteria for renewal. The Mike Grace Scholarship Award is $3,000 for the 2020-21 school year for each recipient.  Learn more about the renewal process here.

The selection committee considers academic excellence, school citizenship, leadership roles and participation in school-related activities as well as the student’s community involvement. The committee also gives substantial weight to any employment the student may have had during their school years, recognizing that the future of the community depends upon the extent of the participation of its citizens.

Williamson and Putnam county high school seniors interested in applying for the Mike Grace Scholarship Award should inquire and obtain an application through their high school guidance counselor.
